Talk:Fan Made Games
From AGI Wiki
Should we also have a list of all of the official Sierra AGI games too?
--Chris Cromer 23:32, 5 Aug 2005 (CDT)
yeah I was eventually getting to that page too... feel free to start one if you want.
--Cosmicr 23:33, 5 Aug 2005 (CDT)
The heading sentence for the page gives the impression that these are completed games that have been released. Should there be status information on this page?
--Joel 07:26, 6 Aug 2005 (CDT)
fixed.
--Cosmicr 07:29, 6 Aug 2005 (CDT)
I have gone through each of the games that have been added and made them all use 1 conformed style. For some reason each page's content for those games was styled differently. For now on let's use the same style for each game.
--Chris Cromer 18:40, 6 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Please don't use apostrophe's as urls. They arn't internet friendly. I know the games use them in the title... but they just don't work for browsers properly.
--Chris Cromer 20:56, 6 Aug 2005 (CDT)
yeah I wasnt too sure if we should use them. I tested it and it seemed to work, but I prefer not to use them anyway too.
--Cosmicr 23:54, 6 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Well it works in some browsers, just not all. And I don't want to cut out a big portion of users.
--Chris Cromer 02:18, 7 Aug 2005 (CDT)
What browsers does it not work in? An apostrophe is a valid character in a URL.
--Joel 02:20, 7 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Well browsers in phones for one. And IE when linked from services like AIM, YIM, etc.
It's just not a friendly character to have in a url. The general rule when developing on the web is to always use the basic characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9, and a few other misc characters. Most of the other things are not web friendly for all browers, and for people that use browsers in other languages(japanese for instance).
--Chris Cromer 02:23, 7 Aug 2005 (CDT)
I'll take your word for it, but that's definitely a case where the browser makers are not following standards, although I'm sure there are still some who haven't learned their lessons from the IE vs. Netscape days.

I was thinking that complete full games should somehow be separated from the incomplete demos. possibly make them bold,or even bold italic??? or we could leave them, and change incomplete games to something like italic? what do people think?
--Cosmicr 00:44, 8 Aug 2005 (CDT)
I think the only way find the suitable style for each type is to just try and estimate which would fit the best way for our purposes.

Tell me guys, Joker & Hmwv, have you done any changes here, have you've modified this Fan Made Games-article at all, you sure have made a lot of changes according to log but I see no changes at all.
--Sami Tervo 17:17, 10 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Not sure what those guys were up to, possible need to lock down Fan Made Games if same logspam-continues.
--Sami Tervo 17:19, 10 Aug 2005 (CDT)
I think you'll find they made quite a few changes. Added several games, renamed some french titles, and added subtitles to some games(eg hanks quest). you can check what changes they have made by pressing the history tab and choose which versions you want to compare.
--Cosmicr 18:20, 10 Aug 2005 (CDT)
It's probably worth noting, though, that you don't need to edit each section individually. You can edit the whole article, and it's probably a better idea if there are that many changes to make.
--Joel 20:29, 10 Aug 2005 (CDT)
HWM and I added several games, corrected some spelling mistakes (like 'McPhilLips') and added subtitles to a couple of games. We had no intention to logspam (for whatever that means); we just like to see AGI Wiki as complete & accurate as possible since we both consider it a great initiative.
--Joker 05:55, 11 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Don't worry, you didn't logspam... whatever that is. Sami just didn't realize that you had changed stuff.
--Chris Cromer 06:41, 11 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Aye, I got bit carried away. Anyway, gj both of you. ;)
- Sami's invented words dictionary : logspam - excessive change of articles, thus causing disturbing mentions in log
--Sami Tervo 12:19, 11 Aug 2005 (CDT)
---Hi folks, here my first post in agi wiki. Anyway, I edited Serguei's destiny 2 because it's just a demo. The game's not finished yet.
--Robin Gravel 11 Aug 2005
Robin, you can easily get both horizontal line and your name to the discussion simply by clicking the '+'-mark.
--Sami Tervo 13:58, 11 Aug 2005 (CDT)
Thanks for the advices Sami
--Robin Gravel 14:52, 11 Aug 2005 (CDT)
By the way, I'd recommend adding a link back to the Fan Made Games page on each individual game page.

Is "Quest for Glory IV: Hero's Adventure" the same game as the regular "Hero's Adventure"? If so, the article should redirect. Also, I have a feeling that was supposed to be "Quest for Glory VI", because the real QFG4 (Shadows of Darkness) came out in like 1993, way before AGI Studio was released.
